    O’Connell Street represents the commercial center of Dublin, and was once the site of a major stand by the Irish against the British. The British eventually took those who took part in the uprising to Kilmainham Jail (now Kilmainham Gaol Museum), where Ireland’s first President, Eamon De Valera, also served time as Ireland’s last prisoner.
